One of my other favourites, though, is Less Than Angels, which has wonderful digs at academics. I know many readers don't like it as much as some of the others, but I'm very fond of it and it always makes me laugh.GeraniumCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03010199887691558717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-182642520216901583.post-69750335811674891052013-06-19T16:49:27.132+01:002013-06-19T16:49:27.132+01:00Penelope Wilton has a wonderful voice for BP :-)Penelope Wilton has a wonderful voice for BP :-)GeraniumCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03010199887691558717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-182642520216901583.post-33770333705579060992013-06-19T16:48:35.026+01:002013-06-19T16:48:35.026+01:00My thanks to Sensibilia! The society seems pretty healthy both here and across the Atlantic, which is great.GeraniumCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03010199887691558717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-182642520216901583.post-58924623261764410052013-06-19T16:46:28.500+01:002013-06-19T16:46:28.500+01:00I'm slightly ashamed to say I can't rememb...I'm slightly ashamed to say I can't remember Penelope Lively well enough to comment! Having read her years ago, I've recently come across "A Very Private Eye" and "A Lot to Ask" and am now about to reread the novels. I never knew there was a BP Society. I'm glad; I was wondering if she was semi-forgotten these days, but no!Pam https://www.blogger.com/profile/12641269043817163165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-182642520216901583.post-57720925563300386832013-06-09T18:44:19.864+01:002013-06-09T18:44:19.864+01:00I have a copy of this and will of course read it -...I have a copy of this and will of course read it -- it is too bad she was never able to complete a final draft. The modern elements make me think of other writers like Penelope Lively; there have been bits in some of the books I've read thus far that remind me in some distant way of Lively's own preoccupations (particularly A Few Green Leaves). But you do need digital radio to listen to R4X.

Wondering who will play the leads. I'm betting on Penelope Wilton as Jane.sensibiliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08715737628925538412noreply@blogger.com
